Lalon Memorial Festival began
A three-day Lalon Memorial Festival began at Lalon's Shrine in Chheuriya of the district yesterday. Introduced by Lalon Shah himself, the festival is held every year to celebrate Dol Purnima. 

The memorial festival started on March 20 and will run till March 22.  Lalon Academy, a group of elected individuals who look after the Lalon shrine, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Kushtia district administration have jointly organized the festival.

Energy Adviser to the Prime Minister Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury will inaugurate the festival as the chief guest while Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP, were present as special guest. On the occasion additional security measures had been taken around the shrine area, said Deputy Commissioner of Kushtia Aslam Hossain. 

A large number of Baul singers across the country will sing Lalon songs that seek inner mind and tell about humanity at the festival. Besides, a village fair (Mela) will also be seen till March 22 on the festival premises in Chheuriya.
