Korean Camp manager hacked in Matarbari Power Plant
The Korean Camp manager of Matarbari Power Plant was severely injured on Saturday night as a group of miscreants hacked him with sharp weapons beside the camp in the power plant project area in Maheshkhali of Cox’s Bazar.
The injured was identified as Md Salahuddin, Korean Camp manager of Cosmos Group, who supplies necessary goods to the local and foreign employees of the power plant, UNB reports.
Salahuddin said some local miscreants have threatened him to leave the power plant project site several times and finally they swooped on him around 11 pm on Saturday, leaving him badly wounded on the head and back.
The attackers fled when locals rushed to the spot hearing screams of the victim.
The camp manager was rushed to Chakaria Hospital in critical condition.
Fakhrul Zaman, location in-charge of the Cosmos Group, said that many local and foreign companies are involved with the development project of the Power Plant which has been disrupted by the local miscreants.
The foreign employees’ lives would be under risk also, if the Matarbari area is not freed from the miscreants, he said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Supervisor of Korean Camp Imam Hossain said: “Doing job here is becoming dangerous due to terrorist activities. Many would leave the place if the miscreants are not controlled.”
Officer-in-Charge of Maheshkhali Police Station Probhash Kumar Chandra Dhar said they were investigating the matter and legal action would be taken after a complaint is filed in this regard.
