KOICA holds first-ever nursing post-graduation ceremony in Bangladesh
The Koreans provided support to establish the institute with a budget of $13.75 million in grant aid.
KOICA said Monday was the “historical moment” for Bangladesh nursing education sector when the graduation ceremony took place at the new institute.
Thirty-six MSc nursing students have completed their post-graduation courses from NIANER in six major subjects.
State Minister for Health Zahid Maleque was chief guest and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Jute and Textiles Saber Hossain Chowdhury special guest at the event.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has initiated the project to establish an advanced higher level nursing education centre in Bangladesh in order to develop knowledgeable and qualified nurses and fulfil the shortage in this noble profession.
KOICA Deputy Country Director Bae Jin-Hyeon expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh government for “continuous support in making the project increasingly successful”.
He hoped this institution will be able “to produce skilled manpower in nursing sector to meet the local demands and also ensure decent jobs at home and abroad”.
KOICA said the new nursing programme will open a new horizon for Bangladesh to demonstrate a modernised nursing education system.
