Khaleda to be dealt with jail code if convicted: Home Minister
DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be dealt with jail code if she is convicted in the ACC case on February 8.
He made the remark Wednesday (Feb 7) while briefing the journalists at the secretariat.
Regarding the ACC case against Khaleda Zia the minister said that it is the matter of the court whether she will be convicted or acquitted. If she is convicted she will be kept as per jail code.
Four people were arrested on last January 30 when a group of rowdy people attacked the prison van of police. He continued that BNP secretary general Mirza Fahrul Islam however claimed that the arrested were the intruders in the BNP file.
The Minister however asserted that that the four were identified as BNP activists after examining the video footage.
He identified the four as Mamun khan son of Masum Billah of Nalchiti of Jhalakhati district, Ruhul Amin son of Abdul Kader of Hajiganj of Chandpur and Ishtiaque Ahmed Nasir of Shafi Ahmed of KIshoreganj district.
Of them Mamun is the central committee information and research secretary of Chattradal, Ruhul Amin is the general secretary of Juba Dal of ward no. 98, Dhaka. Harun is the organizing secretary of Juba Dal of ward no. 26 and Nasir is central vice-president of JCD.
The Minister said that the ‘missing’ of the president of Dhaka city South BNP Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel but he was not picked up by law enforcers. May be he has gone into hiding. This may be a new technique, he added.
