Kazi Hayat, Mazharul Islam to get Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2021
In memory of Fazlul Haque, the pioneer of film journalism in the country, the Fazlul Haque Memorial Award is given every year. Fazlul Haque was the editor of the first film magazine Cinema. He was also the director of the first children's movie President. To mark the legend's death anniversary, National Film Award winning filmmaker Kazi Hayat and celebrated cine journalist Mazharul Islam, the editor of magazine Onyodin will be honoured with this award this year, reports the Newnation.

The ceremony will be held on October 26 at Channel i Studio, General Secretary of the Fazlul Haque Memorial Committee Amirul Islam informed the matter. He also said that a token of Tk25,000, a crest and a certificate will be given to the awardees. 

His wife, renowned author Rabia Khatun, introduced the award in 2004 in memory of the late Fazlul Haque. To honour his contribution, Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) has named one of its main auditoriums 'Fazlul Haque Memorial Auditorium.' An institution called Fazlul Haque Institute of Media Studies, for aspiring artistes, has been set up under the direct supervision of Syed Salauddin Zakir.
