Job seekers bring bicycle procession in city
Job seekers on Sunday brought out a bicycle procession in the city demanding review of existing quota system in government job recruitment process.
Hundreds job seekers mostly from Dhaka University (DU) under the banner of Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad brought out the rally from anti terrorism Raju Sculpture near TSC.
The procession paraded Doel Chattor, Jagannath University, Kabi Nazrul College, Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka College, Tejgaon College roads and ended at central library of DU.
The procession was brought out to press home their five-point demand, including keeping of 10 percent quota for freedom fighters and others, and the rest 90 percent recruitment on merit basis in government jobs.
Currently, 44 percent are recruited on merit and the remaining 56 percent from privileged candidates allocated under various quotas.
