JaPa chairman Ershad off to Singapore
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad left Dhaka for Singapore on Monday night for medical checkup.
Ershad along with party presidium member Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and his APS Manjurul Islam left Shahjalal International Airport by a Singapore Airlines flight around 10:45pm, said Ershad's deputy press secretary Delwar Jalali.
Earlier in the day, a party press release said Ershad will return home soon after receiving treatment there.
On Saturday, Ershad appointed Jatiya Party's presidium member Ruhul Amin Hawlader as his special assistant to discharge all the organisational responsibilities of the party chairman in his absence.
The new development came just four days after Hawlader was removed from the party's secretary general post.
On December 3, Ershad made party presidium member Moshiur Rahman Ranga its secretary general removing Ruhul Amin Hawlader from the post.
Ranga, also the State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives, is discharging the duty of party secretary general alongside its presidium member as his additional charge.
