Jane Goodall: Disrespect for animals caused Covid-19 pandemic
World-famous British primatologist Jane Goodall says the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic was caused by humanity’s disregard for nature and disrespect for animals.

Goodall, who is best known for trail-blazing research found in Africa that revealed the true aspect of chimpanzees, pleaded for the universe to learn from former mistakes to avoid future disasters.

Throughout a conference call prior to the release of the new Countrywide Geographic documentary “Jane Goodall: The Hope“, the 86-year-old also said everyone could make a difference.

Goodall: It is our disregard for aspect and our disrespect of the animals we have to share the earth with that has caused this pandemic, that was predicted way back when.

Because mainly because we destroy, let’s claim the forest, different species of animals found in the forest are forced right into a proximity and therefore diseases are being passed from one animal to another, and that second animal is then simply probably to infect humans as it is forced into closer connection with humans.

It’s also the animals who are actually hunted for foodstuff, sold in markets in Africa or in the meat marketplace for wild animals in Asia, especially China, and our intensive farms where we cruelly masses together billions of animals all over the world. They are the conditions that induce a chance for the viruses to hop from animals across the species barrier to individuals.

It’s really good that China closed straight down the live wild animal markets, in a good short-term ban which we hope will be produced permanent, and other Parts of asia will follow suit.

But in Africa, it'll be very difficult to avoid the advertising of bush meat because so many persons rely on that because of their livelihoods.

It will need a lot of careful thought about how it ought to be done, you can’t just stop somebody doing something when they have zero money to aid themselves or their families, but at least this pandemic should have taught us the sort of things to conduct to prevent another one.

We must realise we are area of the natural globe, we be based upon it, and as we destroy it we are in fact stealing the near future from our children.

Hopefully, as a result of this unprecedented response, the lockdowns that are going on around the world, even more people will wake up and eventually they are able to start considering ways they can live their lives differently.

Everyone can make a direct effect every single day.

If you feel about the results of the little choices you make: what you eat, where it originated from, achieved it cause cruelty to animals, is it created from intensive farming - which usually it is - could it be cheap as a result of child slave labour, achieved it harm the surroundings in its production, where did it come from, how many miles did it travelling, did you feel that perchance you could walk rather than take your car.

(Also consider) techniques you could perhaps help alleviate poverty because when people are actually poor they can’t produce these ethical options. They have to perform whatever they are able to to survive - they can’t issue what they acquire, they need to buy the cheapest, plus they are going to cut down the previous tree because they're desperate to find land on which they are able to grow more food.

So what we are able to do in our individual lives does depend a bit on who we are, but most of us can make a difference, everybody can. - AFP
