Jabal-e-Noor to give Tk 5 lakh to victims’ families each
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) told High Court that Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus authority will give Tk 5 lakh to each family of students killed in a city’s Airport road accident on July 29.

The HC bench of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md Khayrul Alom fixed October 7 to give next order in this regard after BRTA had placed the report before court on Sunday (August 12).

Lawyer Pangkaj Kumar Kundu moved for Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan while lawyer barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol stood for writ application.

Ruhul Kuddus Kajol said, “BRTA report says Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus authority will give Tk 5 lakh to each family of the victims. The bus authority pleaded for time, but the court did not grant it. However, the court also questioned qualification of the driver on the grounds he was given driving license. Bedsides, the court fixed October 7 for hearing on the report of BRTA’s initiatives.”

On July 29, two students of SRCC-- Abdul Karim, 16 and Diya, 15, were killed as a reckless bus mowed them down in a horrific overtaking race nearby the campus before Radisson hotel, leading to countrywide student protests for more than a week.

Later, a writ application was filed.
