It was day of archery in SA Games
As expected Bangladesh archery team dominated the team events winning all six gold medals in the team events of the ongoing South Asian Games Archery held on Sunday at Pokhara Rangasala Stadium.
Bangladesh men’s archery team comprising Ruman Sana, Tamimul Islam Tamim and Hakim Ahmed Rubel won gold in recurve men’s team event beating Sri Lanka archers Dalpatadu Ravien Kavisha, Mahamadaachchi Sajeev and Sadun Kumara by 5-3 sets to win the day’s first gold.
Bhutan archery team comprising Kinley Tshering Nima Wabgdi and Lam Dorji secured bronze medal in this event.
In the recurve women’s team event comprising Ety Khatun, Monera Akter and Beauty Roy secured gold with a 6-0 win over Sri Lankan Madushika Thaisari Silva to bagged the second goal.
Bhutan team comprising Sonam Deki Sonam Dema and Karma bagged bronze in this event.
Ruman Sana and Ety Khatun won the third gold medal of the day in the men’s mixed team event beating Bhutan archers Sonam Dema, Kinley Tshering by 6-2 set points in the final.
Sri Lankan archers Sajeev De Silva and Rehana Tayabally secured bronze in this event.
In the men’s compound team event, Bangladesh archery team comprising Ashikuzzaman, Sohel Rana and Ashim Kumar Das beat Bhutan by 226-213 points to win gold.
While in the compound women’s team event, Bangladesh team comprising Sushmita Banik, Shyamoli Roy and Soma bagged the fifth gold for country beating Sri Lanka by 226-215 points in the final. Nepal team comprising Manju Bajagain Imayung Rai and Maga Rana bagged bronze in this event.
In the final team event of the day, Bangladesh archery team comprising Sushmita Banik and Sohel Rana secured gold in the compound mixed event beating Nepal by 149-140 points to make it six out of six gold for Bangladesh in archery team events. Sri Lanka won the bronze medal in this event.
A total of six gold medals came on Sunday from archery team events and medal count is expected to rise as the four individual events will take place tomorrow (Monday) at the same venue.
Bangladesh has so far won a total of fourteen gold medals in the ongoing SA games with six in archery, three in karate, two in weightlifting, one in taekwondo one in fencing and one in women’s cricket event.
