India's cricket table chief Sourav Ganguly explained Saturday the Indian Premier League will be truncated with the Twenty20 tournament pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The world's richest cricket league was postponed Friday, meaning rather than starting on March 29, it'll get started on April 15 at the initial following the Indian government ordered steps against travel and public gatherings.

Major officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) met franchise owners of the 8 IPL teams on Mumbai to evaluate the situation.
"Safety is most significant for the players and at this time (with) what's on offer on the globe and India with the federal government directives this is all we are able to do. We've postponed remaining domestic suits," Ganguly told reporters.

"If it (IPL) is (postponed till) April 15, then, regardless 15 days have died, it should be a truncated one. How truncated, just how many games, I cannot say right now."

While the country of just one 1.3 billion has reported just two deaths from coronavirus and a lot more than 80 confirmed cases, all activities have been suspended.
