Imran invites Kapil, Gavaskar to oath-taking ceremony
Imran Khan is not going to be the only cricketing superstar present at his oath-taking ceremony as the Prime Minister of Pakistan later this month as media reports reveal that the former cricketer has invited the likes of India legend Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar to the August 11 ceremony.
The development came after PTI leaders met Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua to discuss which foreign dignitaries could be invited to the PTI chief's ceremony, leading daily Dawn reported.
Imran, whose party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won the most seats last week in the general elections is effectively the Prime-minister elect and has already tried to seek out better bilateral relationship with neighbouring India.
Kapil Dev had extended his congratulations to Imran, saying he hopes Imran will work for Pakistan in the same way he captained the cricket side.
Imran led Pakistan to their World Cup triumph in 1992. Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu and Bollywood star Aamir Khan have also been invited for the ceremony, according to Indian media reports.
