Hyundai Names Self-Driving Joint Venture
Hyundai said Wednesday that it has given the name Motional to a jv with American autonomous technology company Aptiv. Both inked the offer in March last year with US$2 billion of capital from each company.
Aptiv in turn can be an offshoot of global auto parts supplier Delphi. Aptiv has racked up a lot more than 100,000 accident-free rides in NEVADA in self-driving cars since 2018.
Motional will continue to work on fully-automated driving technologies and hopes to market them to robotaxi companies and fleet operators by 2022.
The Boston-based venture opened its office in Seoul in-may, which will conduct automated driving tests in Korea.
