Holder, Pollard to miss Bangladesh tour amid Covid fears
Skipper Jason Holder is among 10 players who'll miss his country's tour of Bangladesh as a result of "Covid-19 related concerns or personal fears", Cricket West Indies announced on Tuesday.
Holder, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Roston Chase, Sheldon Cottrell, Evin Lewis, Shai Wish, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran pulled from the tour which includes three one-evening internationals and two Tests found in Chattogram and Dhaka.
Fabian Allen and Shane Dowrich are also unavailable for personal reasons.
CWI said its Covid-19 insurance plan "allows any player to opt out of collection for an abroad tour, only when predicated on the player's own safety fears or concerns".
"Such decisions will not impact their factor for future selection."
The Test squad will be led by the experienced Kraigg Brathwaite, with Jermaine Blackwood as vice-captain. Ex - West Indies A workforce captain Jason Mohammed will business lead the ODI workforce with Sunil Ambris as vice-captain.
The West Indies touring party is due to get to Dhaka on January 10 and the series will run until February 15.
"Tours of Bangladesh should never be easy as they always play very well in their personal conditions," explained West Indies instructor Roger Harper.
"Although many of the senior players are missing found in both formats, I expect our clubs to be extremely competitive."
