Gayle’s participation in BPL under cloud
The participation of one of the best T20 players of the world, Chris Gayle, in the upcoming Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is uncertain for his ‘reluctance’.

An official of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) told UNB on Saturday that the Caribbean batting giant is reluctant to take part in the BPL. He rather decided to refrain from cricket in the remaining part of the 2019 session.

“We are not sure (whether Gayle will join BPL). He was roped in by Chattogram Challengers for this year’s BPL. But his agent told us that the batsman is reluctant to take part in the event. At the same time, Gayle’s agent told us that the batsman is demanding more remuneration than he is supposed to get from Chattogram. So we are not sure about his participation now,” the BCB official said on condition of anonymity.
In the last season of BPL, Gayle played for Rangpur Riders under the captaincy of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

The special edition BPL, which is dedicated to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of this birth centenary, is all set to take place from December 11.

A total of seven teams will participate in this year’s BPL. Apart from Chattogram Challengers, the other teams are Dhaka Platoon, Cumilla Warriors, Khulna Tigers, Rajshahi Royals, Rangpur Rangers and Sylhet Thunder.
