Fish and Fish Products Expenses passed with harsher punishment
The Fish and Fish Products (Inspection and Top quality Control) Costs, 2020 was passed in Parliament on Monday, looking to ensure harsher punishment for marketing and exporting fish or fish products with harmful chemicals.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim moved the Bill in the House that was passed by the tone of the voice vote.
The punishment for violation of regulations is maximal five years imprisonment, Tk 5 lakh excellent, or both.
In line with the existing Fish and Fish Items (Inspection and Top quality Control) Ordinance, 1983, the utmost punishment is six a few months’ imprisonment, Tk 5,000 fine, or both.
The Fish and Fish Goods (Inspection and Top quality Control) Expenses have been framed for the protection and expansion of the export marketplace of Bangladeshi fish and fish products, and for supplying quality ones to the local markets.
With no license, no-one can export fish and fish items, set up, or run a factory or any establishment in this regard according to the proposed law.
According to the bill, licenses could be revoked on different grounds, including violation of circumstances mentioned found in the license, providing false data or concealing information, the inability of renewing the license for 3 consecutive years, and handing over and offering the license.
If the inspection officer finds an unhygienic environment in factories or establishment or sub-normal quality of processing during the inspection, the administrative penalty will be an optimum Tk 5 lakh fine.
