Father, son shot dead in Bandarban
An indigenous man and his son were shot to death by rivals over establishing supremacy at Ujanipara in Ruma upazila of Bandarban district on early Saturday (August 4).
The deceased were identified as Ujanipara former area chief Koawang Marma, 65 and his som Mong A Ching Marma, 32. Koawang’s another son, Mong Pru Hola Marma, was also shot and injured.
According local and police sources, miscreants encircled the house of Koawang Marma at midnight and killed them.
The incident took place following a feud with current area chief Mong-re-Ong Marma over establishing dominance in the area. He is absconding.
Ruma police station officer-in-charge (OC) Shariful Huq told Banglanews that, on information, police are on their way to recover the body from the remote hilly area. Bodies will be sent to Bandarban sadar hospital.
