Fani causes crop damage on 63 hectares: Minister
Cyclone Fani, which crossed Bangladesh on Saturday, has damaged standing crops on nearly 63,063 hectares of land, said Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak.

The damaged crops included paddy, maize, vegetables, jute and betel-leaf worth Tk 38,54,02,500.

The minister informed this at a press conference held at the Secretariat  on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, Relief Ministry informed that some 22 kilometer areas of embankment were damaged by Fani while 175 cattle-heads died.

The severe cyclonic storm weakened before entering Bangladesh on Saturday morning. It crossed Tangail and Mymensingh region as a deep depression in the noon.
