EU condoles with Bangladesh over Chawkbazar tragedy
The European Union extended its condolences to Bangladesh after the loss of lives in the tragic fire at Chawkbazar in Old Dhaka on February 20. 

The EU Delegation to Bangladesh issued a statement on Chawkbazar fire that claimed 69 lives. 

In the message, Konstantinos Vardakis, Charge d'Affaires at EU in Bangladesh, said "The EU Delegation expresses its heartfelt condolences for all those affected by the fire which occurred at Old Dhaka's Chawkbazar on 20 February.”

“Our thoughts are with the Government and people of Bangladesh as well as with the bereaved families and friends of the victims during such difficult time” he also stated.

The EU Delegation also wished speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.

Earlier, at least 69 persons were killed and many others injured as a fire, erupted from a chemical warehouse besides Churihatta Shahi Mosque in Chawkbazar of old parts of Dhaka on Wednesday (Feb 20) night.
