Envoys of Sweden, Spain, Norway present credentials to President
Three ambassadors of Sweden, Spain and Norway to Bangladesh separately presented their credentials to President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in Dhaka Wednesday afternoon.
The resident envoys are: Alexandra BERG VON LINDE of Sweden, Franscisco de Asis Benetiz Salas of Spain and Espen Rikter-Svendsen of Norway.
Welcoming the envoys, President Hamid expressed his interest in expanding bilateral relations in a variety of fields, including trade and
investment among the countries, press secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.
He hoped that the ambassadors would make sincere efforts to expand bilateral relations further in all spheres during their assignments in Bangladesh.
Thanking the envoys of Spain, Norway and Sweden for his or her cooperation on the Rohingya issue, he expressed the hope that their
cooperation would continue in days to come in this regard.
The President also sought their respective country's cooperation to mount pressure on Myanmar for his or her (Myanmar nationals) safe and dignified go back to their homeland.
Abdul Hamid expressed his sorrow and sympathy to the families who lost their near and dear types through the coronavirus pandemic and the people who were infected with the condition around the world. "Depends upon would be able to save the persons from the fatal disease through their joint efforts within the shortest possible time," he hoped.
He urged the developed countries and multinational corporations to come forward to help make the upcoming coronavirus vaccine open to all states, irrespective of rich and poor.
During the meeting with the Spanish ambassador, the top of the state thanked Spanish government for its cooperation in translating the Bangabandhu’s Unfinished Memoirs into Spanish language and hoped that the ties between your two states would be further strengthened in future.
Through the meetings, the ambassadors sought the President’s cooperation in discharging their duties in Bangladesh while he assured of providing all necessary supports for doing their assignment in Bangladesh.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, President’s secretary Sampad Barua, military secretary Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman, press secretary M Joynal Abedin and secretary (attached) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were also present.
Secretaries concerned to the President and high officials of the foreign ministry were present.
Earlier, on the arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoys guards of honours.
