EBL launches UnionPay debit, prepaid cards
The Eastern Bank Limited has launched dual currency Unionpay debit and prepaid cards. Cardholders can endorse up to USD $12,000 yearly travel quota limit to the newly launched cards, says a press release.
These dual currency cards are accepted both locally and internationally and are best for e-commerce transactions aswell.
EBL Managing Director and CEO Ali Reza Iftekhar said through their partnership with UnionPay they'll "offer progressive and exciting propositions to the cardholders in Bangladesh and provide them cashless and seamless banking experience."
Ashutosh Agrawal, head of UnionPay International South Asia Branch, also appreciated the partnership.
The EBL UnionPay debit and prepaid cardholders should be able to avail all the regular EBL debit and prepaid credit card product propositions.
Globally, UnionPay Cards are accepted at over 52 million merchants and more than 2.9 million ATMs across 179 countries. Almost all merchants and ATMs in mainland China accept UnionPay Cards. It includes a partnership with an increase of than 2300 institutions worldwide.
Locally, the cardholders can utilize the cards at all EBL ATMs and POS terminals in the united states.
EBL first partnered with UnionPay International in 2019 with the introduction of EBL UnionPayContactless Platinum Credit Card.
