DU ‘Gha’ unit entry test question paper leaked again
The question paper of Dhaka University’s (DU) ‘Gha’ unit entry test for 2018-2019 academic session was allegedly leaked once again through digital devices before the exam started.
The question paper was spread out on social media at around 9:17am, 43 minutes prior to the exam, though the university authority denied the facts.
Denying the allegation, the university authorities said that they neither got such complaint from any admission seeker nor any proof to back the allegation.
DU proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani told the reporters at his office that, “We could not be assured from any reliable source rather the entry test was held under strict supervision hence there was no option anyone could leak the question.”
“However, we will look into the allegation to verify whether it was question leak or digital forgery,” he added
The Daily Observer obtained a total of 14 pictures of a handwritten script containing the full set of Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) paper and answers to the script at around 10:31am.
After scrutinising the images and the original question paper given at the exam halls, this correspondent found that 72 MCQs, 19 in Bengali part, 17 in English section and 36 in general knowledge section, of the leaked images matched with the original script.
A screenshot also demonstrated that the images were supplied to some admission seekers at around 9:17 am via Facebook messenger and WhatsApp.
After getting the leaked question paper, some campus based journalists informed an assistant proctor of the university midway through the exam over the matter asking him to take immediate steps.
After the completion of the exam, almost the whole question paper matched with the handwritten script on the leaked images.
Campus journalists also talked with a person who got the handwritten script before the exam started.
Wishing anonymity a student claimed that, “An admission seeker came to stay at my dormitory on the night before the exam. The applicant received a set of question paper at around 7:30 am yesterday”.
“But after some times, we learnt to know that the script is not the original one. But at around 9:17 am, some images containing a handwritten script and its answers were delivered to him,” he added
He also said the texts were sent from the mobile phone of the applicant’s guardian.
“Then I informed a journalist. The aspirant told me that his father got the question papers from a private coaching centre,” he added.
Allegation of the in ‘Gha’ unit entry test question paper leakage was also surfaced last year. E-mails containing questions of the English part of the exam were sent to some admission seekers eight hours before the exam began.
The university authorities formed an investigation committee to investigate the fact. But even after one year, no report was submitted by the committee.
A total of 95,341 candidates appeared in the entry test this year against 1,615 seats. Some 59 applicants contested for each seat under the unit.
