'Doctor Strange' casting of Tilda Swinton due to 'The Ancient One' was a blunder
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige throughout a latest interview admitted that the controversial casting of actor Tilda Swinton seeing that 'The Ancient One' found in 2016's 'Doctor Strange' was a blunder.

According to survey, the 47-year-old film maker spoke to 'Men's Well being' for a cover storyline on 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings'. He also talked about the casting of celebrity Simu Liu in the motion picture and stated the uproar over casting Swinton as the Tibetan magic arts guru was "a wake-you-up call."

"We thought we had been being so smart therefore cutting-edge. We're not likely to do the cliche of the wizened, old, sensible Asian man. But it was a wake-up call to state, 'Well, wait a minute, will there be any other method to find it out? Is there any other way to both certainly not fall in to the cliche and cast an Asian actor?' And the response to that, of training, is yes," Feige explained.

Reportedly, at that time accusations of "whitewashing" the type saw Marvel claim it supported creative freedom, including in casting.

"Marvel has a quite strong record of diversity found in its casting of movies and regularly departs from stereotypes and supply material to get its MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe] alive," "The Ancient A single is a title that is not exclusively held by anyone identity, but instead a moniker passed down through time, and found in this particular film the embodiment is Celtic," a affirmation issued at that time said.

The statement added, "We are very proud to really have the enormously talented Tilda Swinton portray this original and complex character alongside our richly different cast."

Reported that the 'Suspiria' actor herself explained that casting her in the position was an attempt to avoid unpleasant racial stereotyping, preventing "this sort of Fu Manchu, an ancient man sitting along with a mountain known as The Ancient A single. They built this decision never to perpetuate those racial stereotypes."

Meanwhile, a sequel to the 2016 film, 'Doctor Strange found in the Multiverse of Madness', happens to be scheduled for March 25, 2022.

The movie will dsicover Benedict Cumberbatch return as 'Doctor Strange', Rachel McAdams will be back as Dr Christine Palmer, a surgeon, and Strange's love interest.
