Distribute NID cards on urgent basis: EC
Election Commission (EC) issued a directive to the authorities at field level asking them to resume distribution program of paper-laminated and smart National Identity (NID) cards on an urgent basis.
A letter, signed by Assistant Director of National Identity Registration Department ASM Iqbal Hasan, was sent to all regional officials, district election officers and upazila thana election officers.
Prior to this directive, EC issued another directive to suspend distribution program of paper-laminated and smart National Identity (NID) cards since November 1, 2018, as officials were busy because of the 11th national polls that held on December 30 in the same year.
Now, as the election is over, EC asks officials at field level to resume the distribution program as early as possible.
