Didn’t get justice from AL either, laments Ershad
Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad on Wednesday said no political party is his party's friend as he has been deceived by all and subjected to injustice since he quit power in 1990.
"I couldn't do politics freely for a single day since I quit power. Still, I can't do it...Awami League couldn't have come to power had we not supported them (in 1996). But we also didn't get justice from them," he said, reports UNB.
Ershad further said, "We're deceived by all. I was also fined Tk 5 crore after I'd been sent to jail. We're our friends. No political party is our friend. Framers, labourers and working-class people are our friends, and we do politics for them."
He came up with the remarks while speaking at the concluding session of his party's a workshop on Information and Communication Technology at Bashundhara International Convention Centre here.
Ershad, also a former military ruler, said BNP jailed him out of political vengeance and tried to destroy his party. "We don't do the politics of vengeance."
He hoped that his party will be able to do politics freely by winning the next polls. "We'll change people's fate and restore good governance in the country. We'll introduce the politics of tolerance and love by stopping the politics of vengeance."
The Jatiya Party chief also said his party will reach five crore voters, including the youth, by using new technology. "I believe they'll ensure my victory by casting vote for me."
Ershad also took a vow to build a new Bangladesh by coming to power. "No one can resist us. We'll surely be freed from shackle this time."
