Dhaka-Washington ties to attain new height: FM
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen in Sunday hoped that the relations between Bangladesh and america would reach a new height under President Joe Biden.

"Recently, a fresh administration has bought out in the US and I hope that under the latest administration, our romance with the united states will reach a fresh height," he explained at the American Chamber of Commerce found in Bangladesh (AmCham) Frontline Journalism Award display ceremony where he attended as chief guest.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Miller and AmCham President Syed Ershad Ahmed, among others, spoke.

Dr Momen said the AmCham is a good prominent trade physique to market economic cooperation between your US and Bangladesh.

He said AmCham can play substantial role to enhance export of Bangladesh to USA and attract Foreign Direct Expenditure and incubation of technology.

"I must reiterate that the developmental vision of Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina and the welfare check out of the new administration in the US closely match lockstep," said the Foreign Minister adding that they have already got handful of indications.

The new Administration rejoined the Paris Agreement and currently thinking about exploring whether genocide took place in Myanmar.

Over the last 12 years, Bangladesh achieved incredible success in its hard work to develop its economy also to provide improved living common to its people, said the Foreign Minister.

Dr Momen said Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken a good vow to provide accommodation and residences to all or any homeless people of the country. He mentioned that the government plans to present nearly 900,000 homes to the homeless in this Mujib Barsho.

Bangladesh needs new narrative

He said the federal government has taken many notable decisions and achieved many successes and hoped that good friends from the mass media and press will explore those impressive works of the government and create a good narrative so that they all could be proud of.

"We’re no more a bottomless basket but a land of option, a captivating economy," he said.

But unfortunately, Dr Momen said, till today if any one opens up Google search he or she would be surprised to note new narrative has not reached the global viewers.

"The common perception is - it’s a land susceptible to healthy disasters, Bangladesh migrants are drowning in the ocean or perhaps caught red handed by coastal guards in a foreign nation. Although there’s political stability, the international press selectively reviews political crisis and human rights violations, rapes, etc," he said.

As per Odikar, found in 2019 and 2020 simply 18 and 17 were killed extra judicially found in Bangladesh. But the US saw 996 and 1,004 deaths within the last two years respectively as a result of police without credited process of laws, Dr Momen said.
