Dev pays tribute to Soumitra Chattopadhyay
It's been 10 months since Soumitra has left world. Yet, Soumitra Chattopadhyay is etched in millions of hearts forever. That's what the recently released trailer of 'Hobu Chandra Raja and Gobu Chandra Mantri has reminded. The trailer starts with remembering the thespian who passed away last year in November. Then we can hear the baritone voice of Soumitra throughout the trailer and it surely gives a chilling experience for all the Soumitra fans. This is no doubt a big surprise from Dev. Incidentally, the actor-producer had shared the screen with Soumitra in the 2019 film 'Sanjhbati' and their onscreen chemistry had won hearts. So, its a fitting tribute to Soumitra Chattopadhyay.

The children's fantasy drama which is set for a Durga Puja release this year has been directed by Aniket Chattopadhyay and has a galaxy of stars including Saswata Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Subhasish Mukherjee, Arpita Chatterjee and Barun Chanda among others in pivotal roles. Be it the allegorical dialogues or the evil mantri's presence in the narrative; all of these can evoke nostalgia and make us think about 'Hirak Rajar Deshe' and 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne'. Even the way the pathshala has been shown in the trailer, it somehow reminds us of the iconic Udayan Pandit from 'Hirak Rajar Deshe'. So, not just the narrator of the story but also we can feel the presence of Soumitra Chattopadhyay in every twist and turn of the story.

The fantasy drama is inspired by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumdar's stories Sarkar Moshaiyer Thole and Hobu Chandra Raja Gobu Chandra Mantri. The plot revolves around Hobu Chandra Raja who is completely dependent on his minister Gobu Chandra. However, the people of Bombagor are quite happy as peace and happiness are all around because of the equal treatment by the rulers. In the film, Arpita Chatterjee will be seen as Kushumkoli, the queen of Hobu Chandra Raja.
