DC's new warrior Kryptonian officially joins Superman's family in action comics #1033
In Action Comics #1033, Superman's new ally, Thao-La, is officially welcomed into his family by Lois Lane. Thao-La was first introduced in Action Comics #1030 when Superman and his family come to the rescue of Thao-La and her fellow refugees when their spaceship is being pursued by a horde of aggressive Warzoons. But it is Thao-La who piques Superman's interest as she speaks in an ancient Kryptonian language, thought to be extinct.

Superman's family is a rather tight-knit group, who are normally related by blood. However, with Superman and Lois being some of the most caring people on the planet, of course, exceptions can be made. The Man of Steel's family dynamic has been in the spotlight quite a lot recently, especially since Future State's House of El family was introduced. They just returned in the pages of Action Comics 2021 Annual #1 and it's been teased by writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson that there are more stories about the House of El to come.

In Action Comics #1033 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Daniel Sampere, and Adriano Lucas, a new member is inducted into Lois and Clark's family. This happens as the Fortress of Solitude is broken into and Thao-La is attacked by a set of rogue Warzoons, under Mongul's orders. Lois storms in and shoots the Warzoons, saving Thao-La. At that point, Lois declares that Thao-La is part of their family and that anyone who messes with their family is picking a fight with "all of us." Naturally, things don't look good for those Warzoons.

Lois' decision is a big revelation that is actually quite a surprise. As mentioned, it's uncommon for Superman's family to let in people who are not related to them. Look at the family members that surround Lois in their current roster: Superman, Superboy, and Supergirl. They are all biologically related. Another reason why it comes as a shock is that they barely know Thao-La. Even Lois admits that. But she has a strong feeling that Thao-La has the ability to change and will end up helping them defeat Mongul.

Even if Thao-La's induction is a bit premature, one thing is clear: Thao-La will be part of their family, no matter what happens next. It's been teased that Thao-La has a big part to play in Superman's future legacy and will be sticking around as a leading character for a while. It'll be interesting to see Superman's reaction to Lois Lane letting Thao-La become an official member of the family, let alone the soon-to-be ex-Superboy's thoughts. Action Comics #1033 is available in comic book stores and on digital platforms now.
