Dark irony: 'Sound of Freedom' movie donor faces child kidnapping charges
One of the backers of the crowdfunded anti-child trafficking film, "Sound of Freedom," has found themselves in a shocking twist as they were recently arrested and charged with child kidnapping, raising eyebrows over their alleged involvement in the very crime the film condemns.

Fabian Marta, a name credited as one of the investors who supported the film's creation, is now facing felony child kidnapping charges. The unexpected turn has generated waves on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, where Marta had seemingly expressed pride in contributing to the movie. According to a court filing and posts that have been taken down, Marta's arrest and connection to "Sound of Freedom" have come to light.

"Sound of Freedom" revolves around the efforts of Operation Underground Railroad, an organization dedicated to combatting child sex trafficking. The film highlights the endeavors of its founder, Tim Ballard, portrayed by Jim Caviezel.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police confirmed that Marta, aged 51 and hailing from Chesterfield, Missouri, was officially charged on July 21 and apprehended two days later on July 23. The provided booking photo aligns with images from Marta's now-removed Facebook account. Screen captures of his posts, though not independently verified, seem to corroborate his involvement in the film's financing.

The film has been a box office hit
Despite the controversy surrounding Marta, "Sound of Freedom" itself has been making headlines for its substantial box office performance, amassing over $155 million globally. However, the financial figures have been obscured by Angel Studios' "Pay It Forward" initiative, allowing bulk ticket purchases to be counted as "donations," regardless of redemption.

The film stars Jim Caviezel as Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad. Beyond his role in the movie, Caviezel's endorsement of QAnon-based conspiracy theories has been a point of discussion. With a career spanning across various films like "The Passion of the Christ," "The Thin Red Line," and the CBS series "Person of Interest," Caviezel's name remains intertwined with both his acting and personal beliefs.
