Crown Cement appoints 2 independent directors
Zakir Ahmed Khan, former finance secretary and former chairman of the National Board of Revenue, and M Abu Eusuf, former chairman of the Department of Development Studies of the University of Dhaka, have been appointed independent directors of MI Cement Factory Ltd (Crown Cement).
The appointments were made at the 24th annual general meeting of Crown Cement on the company's factory premises in Munshiganj recently.
Khan also worked for the United Nations and was an executive director of World Bank representing Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka.
Eusuf is a director of the Centre on Budget and Policy at the university. He is also an active researcher and has worked for UNDP, World Bank and European Union.
