Cricket Australia satisfied, says BCB CEO
Cricket Australia expressed their overall satisfaction regarding the bio-bubble protocol of the recently-concluded five-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Australia, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Wednesday.
“I think they got more than their expectation. They hadn't expected that we are able to create a secure environment or strict bio-bubble but we are able to fulfil each and every requirement, BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters at Mirpur.
“Of course there were many challenges in this series. As we all know, our cricket management was in touch with the medical department before Australia’s arrival.
“There were several issues and they demanded several things regarding their players’ health issue and told us to confirm those before their arrival.
“These were challenging to confirm everything under the bio bubble. We had to work on those so that we can meet their demands in a proper way without any faults,” he added.
BCB left no stone unturned to make sure all the requirements are in place to satisfy CA as their men’s national cricket team had paid a visit to Dhaka for the first time since 2017.
CA had already postponed a tour to Bangladesh earlier in 2020 and they only agreed to visit Bangladesh after all their demands were met by BCB regarding the bio-bubble security.
The key CA demands were – not allowing any outsider in the team hotel, coming straight to the team hotel from the airport tarmac without any immigration hassle and also hosting all the matches at one venue.
BCB also played without Mushfiqur Rahim after CA didn’t allow him to join the bio-bubble for the mandatory 10-day quarantine.
