Covid certificate scam: HC denies bail to Dr Sabrina
The High Court has denied bail to JKG Healthcare Chairperson Dr Sabrina Sharmin Hussain in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 test reports and fraud.
Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Atoar Rahman’s virtual bench threw out the petition on the ground that it had been not properly presented.
The case is currently being heard by the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
Investigators pressed charges in court against Dr Sabrina, her husband Dr Arif Chowdhury and six others. They mentioned Sabrina and Arif as the masterminds and accused others of helping the couple carry out fraud and forgery.
Arif and five others were arrested on June 23. Sabrina was arrested in the same case on July 12.
JKG Healthcare issued 27,000 coronavirus test reports. Of these, 15,460 were fake.
