Consumers won't need to pay extra electric bills, says Nasrul
State Minister for Electric power, Energy and Mineral Information Nasrul Hamid features said no consumers might have to pay extra expenses of electricity.
"Excessive bills have already been prepared for a few consumers. It's absolutely wrong. We have previously instructed the authorities worried to improve those bills. Quantities in the excessive expenses will become corrected if the buyers go to the nearest electricity office buildings. Consumers will never have to come to be panicked. None will have to pay extra charges," he said getting involved in a virtual dialoguefrom his residence in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Centre for Plan Dialogue (CPD) organised the virtual dialogue titled "Review of Covid-19 and Budget 2020-21: Priorities for Power Distribution and Solution Proposals" with Professor Rehman Sobhan found in the chair.
Exploration Director of CPD Khandaker Golam Moazzem presented the keynote paper, while Executive Director Dr Fahmida Khatun moderated the dialogue.
The state minister also said, "The federal government doesn't want to keep the quick rental power plants anymore. Such power crops will be sent on retirement apart from some government vitality stations. We happen to be as well thinking to float 'electric power bonds' to attract important foreign expense to the power sector."

He said that the power division has been working to ensure uninterrupted, reliable and quality electric power at reasonable and affordable rates putting focus on efficiency and transparency.
"If we increase usage of technology then transparency may also be enhanced. Work are to increase utilization of technology at all amounts. There are a few complaints about bill but if we work with a smart meter, you won't happen. Issues will be resolved correctly," Nasrul added.
Regarding regional, sub-regional power trade, the express minister said, "We can use Nepal's hydropower in summer season and alternatively, power could possibly be exported during winter weather due to high demand for electricity in Nepal or perhaps Bhutan, from which the both countries will get benefit.
