Colors, brush strokes express feelings
Artist Najib Tareque has put his feelings and emotions down on canvasses, using paint and brush, which are on display at his solo show under way at Dwip Gallery in Lalmatia.
The paintings displayed at the exhibition titled 'Anybody can do it, please do it …' features a total of 89 abstract artworks, which have been created using mediums like ink, watercolor and pastel over a period of three decades. The paintings address issues like nature, animals, travelling and others. The exhibition has been curate by Mustafa Zaman and organized by 180 degree.
Dhaka University graphics design professor Mohammad Eunus and DU drawing and painting department professor Shishir Bhattacharjee were present at the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition held on November 29. This is the second show of the series 'Anybody can do it, please do it...' The first show was held in 2015.
'The paintings do not portray objects as they appear in real life. I have portrayed my feelings rather than particular objects or scenes on my canvasses,' artist Najib Tareque said. To mention a few works, a watercolor painting titled 'Blue Bird' shows a figure of a bird floating on water while another watercolor work titled 'Shiva' portrays Hindu deity Shiva.
An abstract acrylic painting titled 'Scratch in the Sky' shows unidentified forms and lines of various colors including black, yellow, rose and others.
An abstract ink-watercolor-pastel work titled 'Garden in the Night' shows various forms, lines and geometrical shapes of black, yellow and royal blue colors. The exhibition will remain open till December 10.
