Claims fallen bricks from wall are 'danger' to residents
Residents are furious after bricks fell onto a public walkway, with some saying it is "dangerous" for those passing by. Photos taken by a local resident show several bricks which have fallen off a wall along Church Walk in Bedworth.
The resident said she is "worried" someone will get hurt, and says it is "dangerous" for those passing by the area. Uploading the pictures to Facebook, she wrote: "Look so dangerous, Church Walk."
Other residents rushed to the comments urging the council to take immediate action on the problem. The loose bricks have since been removed by the council, who are seeking permission from the Diocese, which owns the land, so they can also repair the wall.
One person wrote: "That's the council saying they improve Bedworth then do a mess." Meanwhile, another added: "Just like the roads around Bedworth crumbling to bits!"
One added: "I knew that would go at some point. I can't believe they hadn't intervened before now."
Bedworth Councillor Kyle Evans told CoventryLive: "Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is committed to repairing the wall on Church Walk. At 4am on Friday, an employee from the Council removed the parts of the wall that had fallen.
"As the wall is within land owned by the Church of England, the Council must seek permission from the local Diocese before carrying out the repairs. "The Council has already begun this process of seeking permission. Likewise, planning permission and consent from Highways may also be required.”
