Central bank approves Community Bank Bangladesh Ltd
Bangladesh Bank gave approval for Community Bank Bangladesh to be set up by Bangladesh Police Welfare Trust, a concern of Bangladesh Police.
Bangladesh Bank Board of Directors approved the new bank to start their operation in a meting in BB conference room on Monday (October 29).
After the meeting, the central bank executive and spokesperson director Sirajul Islam briefed reporters on the matter.
He said three more banks were supposed to get approval but their proposals were kept pending for the next Board or Directors meeting.
The three banks are- Bengal Commercial Bank Limited, Peoples Bank Limited and Citizen Bank Limited.
However, the total number of private-public banks in country stood at 59 with the approval of Community Bank Bangladesh Limited.
