Biden says N Korea missile release 'not provocation'
US President Joe Biden has said he will not consider North Korea's start of short-range missiles - the initial since he took office - as a provocation.

Mr Biden added that defense officials called it "business as usual".

North Korea is said to have fired non-ballistic cruise missiles, which usually do not flout UN Reliability Council resolutions, over the weekend.

The incident occurred after Pyongyang criticized the US and South Korea for conducting joint military exercises.

It also comes due to Biden's administration continues to try and establish diplomatic relations with North Korea.

The launch, originally reported by US media, has since been confirmed by US officials and the South Korean security ministry.

South Korea said several cruise missiles were fired into the Yellow Sea in early stages Sunday from Onchon found in North Korea.

Responding to reporters' questions in Tuesday nights, Mr Biden said: "We've learned that little or nothing has changed."

When asked if he considered the check just as a provocation, he said: "No, in line with the Defense Division, it's business mainly because usual. There's no latest wrinkle in what they have."

UN Reliability Council resolutions, that have resulted in strict sanctions on North Korea, possess only banned Pyongyang from firing threatening weapons such as for example ballistic missiles.

Senior US officials have separately said they taken into consideration the action as "most normal armed service activity by the North".

They added they were in the "final stages" of their North Korea policy review and planned to host Japan and South Korea's national security advisers for a conversation soon.

The US government had previously said it turned out trying for weeks to make diplomatic connection with North Korea.

Pyongyang has yet to acknowledge that President Biden is now in office, and both countries remain in loggerheads above the North's nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

During Mr Biden's election marketing campaign, he called Mr Kim "a thug" and stated North Korean nuclear disarmament had to occur before US and UN economic sanctions could possibly be relaxed.
