BD to be first to get free vaccines after invention: Health secy
Health Services Division Secretary Abdul Mannan on Monday said that Bangladesh is definitely the first country to have the Coronavirus vaccine once it really is ready, and obtain it for free.
The secretary developed the remarks while attending an online ending up in National Technical Advisory Committee at the ministry.
The countries where per capita income is below $ 4000 are certain to get free vaccines, he said. “Bangladesh will get it free as here per capita income is definitely near $2000.”
The government has plans to distribute the vaccine gradually among 80 percent of population following its arrival, Mannan said, adding that “As well government will take proper initiative to bring the vaccines and distribute it.”
The federal government has 3 lakh Covid-19 test kits currently and more are being imported, he said adding that “Next a month could be easily covered with this if 10,000 tests are done every day.”
“Found in between this time hopefully we are able to import extra testing kits thus there is no crisis over tests found in country.”, he said.
Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Companies (DGHS) who also attended the meeting, said “We need to work jointly through the use of the lessons learnt from the past.”
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital Vice Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua noted the quantity of testing has slowly but surely decreased, and said the quantity of test should be risen to fight the virus.
