BCB rejects Mushfiqur’s appeal for fitness
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim appealed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to permit him fitness at the BCB Academy, however the board has denied it citing worries of the spread of coronavirus remains.
In a few recent interviews, Mushfiqur had said that he's eagerly waiting to make contact with cricket. He also said that it's tough to allow them to avoid cricket for years. The right-handed batsman has been working only with fitness through the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have a discussion with Mushfiq. He wanted to start personal training program. Nonetheless it will obviously include net-bowlers curators, that may create risk for all. He can start practice when everything is ready,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told the media.
“We are not ready to get started on training now. We think the coronavirus situation is not in order in Bangladesh. So we must wait more. However, we've already started preparing practice facilities. The board will decide about when the national team can start practice,” he added.
As a result of coronavirus pandemic, all cricketing activities are on hold in Bangladesh since March 16. Due to the same reason, Bangladesh’s Pakistan tour for an ODI and Ensure that you Ireland and England tours were also postponed indefinitely.
As well, Bangladesh’s Sri Lanka tour, which is scheduled for July-August, is also in danger. Akram Khan, the chairman of cricket businesses committee of BCB, told the media that the opportunity of this series is very low. However, the state announcement of the postponement of this series is yet to come.
