Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Masih hoisted the national flag half-mast on the embassy premises in the morning when other officials were also present, said a press release.

The ambassador and leaders of many organizations of the Bangladeshi diaspora placed floral wreaths at the makeshift Shaheed Minar on the embassy premises.

A minute-long solemn silence was observed at the beginning of a discussion held there marking the International Mother Language Day. Statements from the President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign minister AH Mahmood Ali and state minister Shahriar Alam were read out at the programme.

Saudi expatriate Bangladeshis took part in the discussion on the language movement and the dignity of mother language during the programme moderated by Embassy Counselor Farid Uddin.
