Bangladesh urges to bring migrants in universal healthcare
Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Bangladesh's long term representative to the US, has called for taking migrants and their own families under universal healthcare.

She made the decision in her inaugural address at a high-level virtual event over healthcare for migrants during the Covid-19 period on Thursday.

The getting together with was jointly organized by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the International Corporation for Migration (IOM) and the Portugal and Morocco Objective to the US and the Friends of Migration Group. Remember that Bangladesh happens to be the co-chair of the Friends of Migration Group.

Citing Primary Minister Sheikh Hasina's phone at the 31st particular session of the UNGA designed for ensuring equal access designed for all to COVID-19 vaccines in the true spirit of UHC, Ambassador Fatima urged the global community to guarantee the option of affordable vaccines, remedies, and equipment intended for migrants in vulnerable situations.

She also known as on the World Health Organization to strengthen the delivery of providers to vulnerable migrants as a fundamental element of the global healthcare insurance coverage.

Highlighting the dire effects facing millions of migrants as a result of pandemic she explained that Bangladesh co-led a Joint Assertion on the Affect of Covid-19 in Migrants in June 2020, that was eventually supported by 103 Member States.

Highlighting the value of harnessing the expansion potential of migration, the Permanent Representative to the UN explained that a healthy migrant can be a lively migrant. She urged IOM, IFRC, and WHO to share best practices and policies in this regard.

Ambassador Fatima also known as for strong political will to combat the developing racism, racial hatred, and intolerance against immigrants to ensure their rights, welfare, and dignity everywhere.

The President of IFRC, Director Standard of IOM, amongst others, addressed the meeting.
