Bangladesh and the Maldives about Tuesday emphasised the necessity for more robust ties between your two countries and additional enhance the fraternal relations by exploring different avenues of cooperation.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and his visiting Maldives counterpart Abdullah Shahid just after delegation-level established talks at state guesthouse Padma told reporters that they reaffirmed the desire of the two countries to strengthen cooperation bilaterally, regionally and in the international arena.

Both countries signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) having provisions when planning on taking even more doctors, teachers, and skilled manpower for different sectors in the Maldives as well as the existing Bangladeshi workforce in the united states.

Currently, there are about 150,000 Bangladeshi personnel in the Maldives and above 60,000 of them have become irregular.

As the Maldives Foreign Minister Shahid was assisted by Abdul Ghafoor, Foreign Secretary and Ms. Fathimath Ghina, Joint Secretary, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and  Superior Commissioner of the Maldives to Bangladesh Ms. Shiruzimath Sameer.

Afterwards, the Maldives delegation visited the genocide corner in the Foreign Ministry.
