Bangladesh elected member of Commonwealth EC
DHAKA: Bangladesh has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth from the Asian region.
The two-year term will be effective from July 2018, said a press release from the Foreign Ministry on Sunday (July 1).
According to the press release, Bangladesh was elected on consensus basis in a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth held at the Commonwealth Secretariat last week.
Four new members got elected from four regions of the Commonwealth. A total of 53 countries are members of the Commonwealth while only 16 countries are members the Executive Committee.
