Ban on motorbike for 3 days in 83 upazilas
Election Commission imposed a ban on movement of motorbikes for three days during the 1st phase of voting under the fifth upazila parishad elections in 83 upazilas under 12 districts.
Besides, EC limited movement of other vehicles ahead of voting on March 10.
A directive, signed by EC Deputy Secretary Atiar Rahman, was sent to naval secretary and secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division to realize it.
Use of motorbikes is banned, 2 days prior to voting on March 10, from 12 am of March 9 to 12 am of March 11 am.
Baby taxi, auto rickshaw, easy bike, jeep, bus, taxi cab, pickup, truck, microbus, car, tempo, launch, all engine-powered boats and speed boats come under purview of the ban from 12 am of March 10 to 12 am of March 11.
However, this ban could be relaxed for candidates, agents, invigilators of home and abroad subject to permission from Returning Officers.
