Bail plea of foreigners including Bangladeshis denied in India
The Madras High Court today denied bail to a group of foreign nationals, including Bangladeshis, who were arrested for various reasons including illegal stay in India.
Justice M Dhandapani rejected the plea while dismissing a batch of criminal petitions from one Suresh Raj and nine others, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The petitioners are from Sri Lanka, Nigeria, China, Iran and Bangladesh, who had overstayed in India beyond the validity of their visas or had entered without proper immigration or visa documents.
Due to certain acts, they had come to the notice of police, which had resulted in filing of cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act.
Without proper investigation, allowing those petitioners to walk out on bail would be detrimental to the safety and security of the country, the judge said.
