Ayub Bachchu remembered
Bangladesh Sangskritik Parishad organised a commemorative programme on the recently demised celebrated composer, guitarist and singer Ayub Bachchu at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Monday. Renowned musicians like Sheikh Sadi Khan, Gazi Mazharul Anwar and Tapan Chowdhury opined that Ayub Bachchu would live for his wonderful works among the music lovers of the country.
Lawmaker Kazi Rozi, Bangladesh Sangskritik Parishad's general secretary Ashraful Alam Akhand, among others, were also present at the programme. Ayub Bachchu died of heart attack on October 18. Celebrated singer Tapan Chowdhury, who rendered many popular songs composed by Bachchu, recalled his peer and friend saying, 'Ayub Bachchu will live as long as Bangla songs live.'
'He inspired new generations to listen to Bangla music by composing and presenting wonderful songs and thus has secured a permanent place in their hearts,' he added. Claiming Bachchu as a music wizard, Kazi Rozi said, 'He was immortalised in his music,' 'Bachchu, we will not forget you,' she said.
Celebrated lyricist, film director and screen writer Gazi Majharul Anwar evaluated Bachchu as a great human being and musician. 'To him music was like a prayer and it refreshed his soul.
'A musician becomes a great human being when he can touch souls of the people as Bachchu did,' he added. Bachchu introduced Bangladesh to a new genre of music and that he always wanted to create something that gave people the opportunity to celebrate their identity, Mazhar said. The discussion was followed by a cultural show in which some of Bachchu's famous numbers were performed.
