Assault on UNO: Chargesheet submitted making Rabiul as lone accused
The Detective Branch (DB) of police have submitted charge sheet to court mentioning Rabiul Islam, a suspect in the attack on Ghoraghat upazila UNO Wahida Khanam and her father, as the lone accused.

Investigative Officer (IO) of the case and Dinajpur DB Police's officer-in-charge (OC) Imam Abu Zafar submitted the attempted murder chargesheet against Rabiul to the Dinajpur Senior Judicial Magistrate (Amli Court-7) on Saturday evening.

After submitting the chargesheet, he explained the DNA and forensic tests indicate Rabiul Islam in the crime scene.

Besides, the evidence collected from Rabiul's house and the place of occurence had matched. Examining the CCTV footage, Rabiul's involvement in the incident was found.

Zafar said that Rabiul confessed to the courtroom of the crime under the Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Method.

On September 2, Rabiul and other folks entered the state residence of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam at night. They first tangled up the security guard and broke in through the ventilators through the back of the house.

The attackers hacked Wahida indiscriminately, departing her critically injuried, and went on to attack her father Omar Ali Sheikh, 70, who rushed directly into save her.

The father and child were taken to Rangpur Medical University and Hospital. 

Wahida Khanam's brother Sheikh Farid filed a circumstance with Ghoraghat Law enforcement Station in connection with the incident.

On September 11, Rabiul Islam, 43, who was simply suspended from his post of the gardener over a theft case, was arrested from his house. 

On September 20, he gave confessional statement to a court.

Soon after, the UNO was airlifted from Rangpur to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Drive helicopter.

Four folks including a Jubo League head who were detained in connection with the incident were released on bail.

On October 1, Wahida was discharged from the National Institute of Neurosciences and Medical center after about one month of treatment.
