Arsenal Cement Top Spot After North London Derby Win

Arsenal cemented top spot in the Premier League for another week after defeating North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal secured a crucial 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby, maintaining their position at the top of the Premier League table. Despite Spurs' late surge, goals from Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and an own goal from Pierre Hojbjerg sealed the win for Mikel Arteta's side.

Gunners coach Mikel Arteta went with the same side that started the big win over Chelsea last week, while Spurs recalled Ben Davies, Pierre Hojbjerg, Pedro Porro and Dusan Kulusevski.

The away side drew first blood on 15 minutes when Hojbjerg diverted Bukayo Saka's corner into his own net while trying to head clear. Spurs had the ball in the back of the

net after 22 minutes when Micky van de Ven slotted home from close range, but the celebrations were cut short after the Video Assistant Referee spotted the defender in an offside position.

Arsenal went on to double their lead four minutes later when a swift counter-attack saw Saka latch onto a long-ball from Kai Havertz before showing composure to slot into the far corner.

The away side were able to bag a third goal seven minutes before the break when Havertz bagged his 13th league goal of the season by nodding home a corner.

The high-paced tempo carried over to the second period and Arsenal were unlucky not to have bagged a fourth goal ten minutes when Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario produced a superb to keep out Saka's volley.

Spurs gave themselves some hope in the 64th minute when Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya's poor pass landed straight at Cristian Romero, who showed the composure to slot into the bottom corner.

The goal looked to have spurred the home side on initially but they earned a penalty with five minutes to play for Rice's foul on Davies, which allowed Son Heung-min to step up and convert.
