Apple has struck a deal with DHX Media to produce new 'Peanuts' content. The global children's content and brands company will develop and produce original programs for Apple including new series, specials and shorts based on the beloved characters.

'Peanuts' was created by Charles M. Schulz in 1950. DHX will produce original short-form STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) content that will be exclusive to Apple, including astronaut Snoopy. 'Peanuts' Worldwide and NASA recently signed a Space Act Agreement, designed to inspire a passion for space exploration and STEM among the next generation of students.

Considered as one of the most popular and influential comic strips with over 17000 strips published in total, 'Peanuts' ran from 2 October, 1950, to 13 February, 2000 with intermittent reruns later.

It has been adapted into television specials before, several of which, including A Charlie Brown Christmas and It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown won or were nominated for Emmy Awards. A computer-animated feature film based on the strip, The 'Peanuts' Movie, was released in 2015.The satirical strip focuses on Charlie Brown, an under-confident, meek and nervous young boy.
