AL picks Moslem Uddin for by-polls to Badal's seat
Moslem Uddin Ahmed has been nominated as Awami League candidate for the by-polls to Chattogram-8 constituency vacated by the death of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader Moinuddin Khan Badal.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the AL Parliamentary Board and Local Government Nomination Board at Ganabhaban on Monday night. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

Nominated Moslem Uddin is the president of Chattogram South Awami League. 

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed January 13 next year for the by-election.

According to the schedule, December 12 has been set to submit nomination papers. The scrutiny of nominations will end on Dec 14 while the last date for withdrawing candidature is Dec 22.
 
Badal passed away during treatment in a hospital in India on Nov 7. After his death, his seat Chattogram-8 fell vacant.
